Sam Dimmick, 1960 -
Inupiat Eskimo, Nome, Alaska
This splendid creature was carved of Walrus Ivory from an Alaska state game management program of the 1960's. One of Sam's finest works - photos truly cannot quite do this exceptional piece justice. Sam has captured, exactly and in exquisite detail, the vigilance of this eagle as he awaits something known only to him.
Beautiful natural striations in the tusk are visible in the photos. Base of Burl Walnut inlaid with Walrus Ivory. Baleen eyes.
7 5/8" high with base.
