Navajo Baskets

Type of Navajo basketry: coiled ceremonial cornmeal basket. In modern times, these 'wedding' baskets are almost always made by the neighboring Southern Ute people and traded to the Navajo. Usual materials for Navajo baskets include sumac, yucca and mountain mahogany.

The ancestral homeland of the Navajo people is northern Arizona and New Mexico.
